Before launching EdgePoint we travelled across the country to take the pulse of investors and their advisors. How did they feel about our industry? What did they think was lacking that we might be able to deliver on? With few exceptions, everyone we encountered said pretty much the same thing: We want change.
Frankly, that didn’t surprise us. We’ve been around long enough to be aware of the aspects of our industry that needed improving. The feedback we heard solidified our long-standing conviction that we could do better. First things first, we recognized that the relationship of trust was broken. We believed that a step forward in repairing that confidence was to establish clearly defined rules of engagement inspired by what’s important to our investment partners.
